For thirty years, the Antano family have managed this small winery, acquired in 1969, with about seven hectares of vineyards. It was only after ten years that the family began producing wine of high quality. After 1975, they planted vineyards on argillaceous and mineral rich soil, using the typical varietals of grapes present in the area: Sagrantino and Sangiovese. They have always produced Sagrantino and Montefalco Rosso wines, and from 1984 the production of Sagrantino passito was added. As of 1997, la Fattoria Colleallodole began the production of Montefalco Rosso DOC Riserva and the Sagrantino DOCG Colleallodole, this last one grown on a vineyard having particular characteristics.
The name Colleallodole derives from the skylark, a migratory bird that flies over the vineyard during the month of October. In 1993, Milziade Antano understanding the importance for this type of wine to rest for long periods of time in bottles before its commercialization, has developed an area where the wine bottles are stored for several months before they are sent to the distributor.
