Colle Grimaldesco, is the label of the winery that distinguishes itself for wines of superior quality like Sagrantino di Montefalco and Rosso di Montefalco. In 664 AD, when King Grimovaldo, a Longobard king, stayed in this location on his journey of becoming Duke of Spoleto, the people of the area, in a sign of devotion, attributed his name to the hill where the winery is located today. The Tabarrini family (who now own the property) have been producing wine in the Montefalco region for four generations.
The property comprises 22 hectares, of which 8 are vineyards, 3 are future vineyards to be planted in 2004 and 1 hectare is olive groves. The winery uses only its own grape production and produces 350 hectolitres of wine a year. The wines produced are Sagrantino di Montefalco DOCG, Montefalco Rosso DOC, Sagrantino di Montefalco passito DOCG and the Bianco Umbria IGT. The winery has a large wine tasting room, a conference room and a spacious and manicured garden, and offers the visitors enjoyable guided tours, conferences, product company presentations and catered receptions.
