The Farm Il Torrione cultivates a small part of vineyards in a property of about 40 hectares, where there is an ample crops of olives and cereals. The core values that embody our ideals are to preserve the respect of nature, places and traditions.
Currently the company is aimed mainly to the production of wines of Montefalco: the Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG dry and sweet, Montefalco Red DOC but also the production of extra virgin olive oil DOP and the cultivation of cereals.
All farming operations in the vineyard starting from pruning, canopy management and harvesting, is done entirely by hand.
The solid and lush vineyards are located within a defined terroir for the production of grapes suitable to become Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG and Montefalco Red DOC, Umbria IGT (red and white).
The ecosystem environment where the vineyard is cultivated, is a microterritory homogeneous and specific. The soil is rich in minerals and has a clayey texture. This allows us to have a the right water drainage in the farm and, at the same time, adequate nutrition of the plant.
The vineyard, located at an altitude of about 350 meters above sea level, consists of Sagrantino grape, Sangiovese, Merlot and Trebbiano Spoletino. The rows are exposed southwest and the vines are trained to cordon.
The wines are produced in a “natural way”. The fermentation of the grapes is activated by "indigenous yeasts" and processes of clarification and stabilization occur without the use of chemicals, for preserving the aromas and flavours of our grapes. In all its phases the Farm is advised by the oenologist Emiliano Falsini.
